Description

A poker and shovel in one orderly setup

Two long tools share a freestanding floor stand and remain together beside a fireplace or charcoal grill. The common stand organises storage for the poker and shovel at one defined point. The upper holder gives each item a separate position, so the tools do not have to lean against a wall or lie beside the firebox. A flat base rests directly on the floor, with no wall-mounted storage hardware required.

Contents and dimensions

  • Poker: 75 cm overall length, 16.5 cm wooden handle and 13.5 cm curved working end.
  • Shovel: 75 cm overall length, 16.5 cm wooden handle and a 12 × 14 cm metal scoop.
  • Stand: a flat floor base, an upright post and an upper holder for two tools.

How the tools are constructed

The working ends and long shafts are made of silver-coloured metal, while the handles are wooden. Equal tool lengths create a balanced outline on the stand and make it easier to reserve one permanent location for the complete set. The shaped wooden handles provide a defined gripping area.

The curved end of the poker can catch a log, shift fuel or redistribute charcoal across the working area. Its 75 cm overall length provides reach inside a firebox or over a brazier and helps keep the hand away from the point where the tool contacts the fuel. The shovel’s 12 × 14 cm scoop is suited to collecting small amounts of fully cooled ash in stages: a compact load is easier to lift and remove without overfilling the scoop.

Points to check before choosing

The set consists of the poker, shovel and stand; a brush and tongs are not part of this configuration. This focused contents list is suitable when those additional accessories are already available or are not required for a particular hearth. Compare the 75 cm tool length with the depth of the firebox or brazier and allow a level section of floor for the base. Placing the stand to one side of the hearth and outside the normal walking route keeps both handles accessible.

Ash and fuel remnants should be collected only after they have cooled completely. After dirt is removed, wipe the metal sections and wooden handles dry, and do not leave the wood soaking in water. Choose a dry storage position where the scoop and curved poker end will not touch items that could be marked by ash residue.
