Description

This stand supports a Tatar-style kazan above an open fire without suspending the cookware from a chain. The rounded body rests in a steel ring, while three legs position it over a prepared fire area. The format suits outdoor and backyard cooking when the kazan needs a dedicated support that can be taken apart after use.

Stand dimensions and construction

The structure is built around a circular steel support ring measuring 35 cm in diameter. Three detachable legs, each 41 cm long, connect to the ring. The legs are secured with screws, so every connection should be fully tightened before the fire is prepared. The knock-down design allows the ring and legs to be transported as separate parts instead of keeping the stand assembled.

  • The 35 cm ring directly supports the rounded body of a Tatar-style kazan.
  • Three 41 cm legs create three contact points around the fire area.
  • The knock-down steel structure uses screw connections and should be dismantled only after it has cooled completely.

Checking the fit of your kazan

Match the ring to the diameter of the cookware at its actual contact line, not only to its stated capacity. Kazans of the same nominal volume can have different wall profiles, so measure the section of the rounded body that will rest on the ring. The cookware should make even contact around the circle, remain above the opening, and avoid balancing on one narrow part of its body.

Before use, place the empty kazan into the cold, fully assembled stand. Confirm that the body sits centrally without leaning to one side. Handles, mounting ears, and other projections must not interfere with the ring. The 41 cm leg measurement is not the final installed height: the position of the cookware also depends on the angle of the supports and the profile of the kazan.

Assembly and positioning

Place the stand on a level, firm, non-combustible surface. All three legs must maintain stable contact with the base, while the ring should remain level and free from noticeable rocking. Remove dry grass, leaves, and branches from the surrounding fire area before positioning the cookware.

  • do not place a leg on the loose edge of a hollow, wet soil, or stones of different heights;
  • do not carry the structure with a hot or filled kazan in the ring;
  • during cooking, check that none of the three supports has started to sink.

Care after cooking

Allow the steel to cool completely before dismantling the stand. Remove ash, soot, and dry residue, then wipe and thoroughly dry the ring, legs, and screw connections. Store every component dry, as retained moisture can affect the steel surface. During the next assembly, check the fasteners and the stability of the stand again before preparing the fire.
