Sector Grate for 80 cm Rimmed Fire Bowl, 1 Piece
Description
This metal sector grate converts part of a rimmed 80 cm fire bowl into an area for cooking food over an open fire. A single-sector format is useful when the entire bowl does not need to be covered: meat or potatoes can be placed on the grate while an uncovered section remains available for access to the fuel. The package contains one grate; the fire bowl and any additional sectors are separate items.
Sector-shaped construction with longitudinal slots
The grate is a plate that widens towards the outer edge of the bowl and narrows towards its centre. Its broad side follows the curve of the circular rim, while the two side edges define an individual sector. Long curved slots extend across the metal surface. Heat reaches the food through these openings, and the solid strips between them support the ingredients. This geometry creates a local cooking surface rather than turning one component into a complete circular cooking deck.
The compatible bowl is designed to accept up to six special grates. The number of sectors can be selected according to the cooking area required: one component creates a compact zone, while additional grates progressively extend the surface above the fire. When part of the bowl is left uncovered, the open space provides access to the fuel. One of the installed sectors can also be removed when a larger opening into the bowl is needed.
Details to check when selecting the grate
- Purpose: cooking food over a fire in the compatible fire bowl.
- Compatibility: a round 80 cm bowl whose construction includes a rim and mounting positions for sector grates.
- Design: a metal sector plate with a curved outer edge and longitudinal slots.
- Quantity: one grate without the bowl or additional sectors.
- Configuration: up to six matching components can be used on the corresponding bowl.
Positioning, use and care
The grate is positioned while the bowl is cold and before the fire is lit. Its broad curved side follows the rim, while the narrow end points towards the centre. Before lighting the fire, check that the sector rests on the intended parts of the bowl without tilting or moving sideways. This component is made for the corresponding rimmed construction; an identical nominal diameter on a different fire bowl does not by itself establish compatibility.
The metal surface becomes hot when exposed to the open fire. Food is kept within the boundaries of the sector without obstructing the uncovered portion when that space is being retained for access to the fuel. After the grate has cooled completely, food residue can be removed with a dry brush. The surface should then be wiped and stored away from prolonged contact with moisture. This care keeps the slots and supporting strips clean for the next use.
