Oak 2-in-1 Serving Board with Skewer Stand and Legs
Description
Make the barbecue the centre of the table
This oak 2-in-1 server combines a sharing board with a tabletop stand for skewers. It is designed for presenting freshly cooked barbecue as one inviting arrangement: the skewers can rest above the base while the open areas of the board hold suitable accompaniments. Instead of spreading the meal across a collection of unrelated plates, you can create a single serving point for family dinners, garden gatherings and relaxed meals with friends.
The rectangular base stands on legs, creating a raised level for the food presentation. Two upright rails are positioned at opposite sides and have open slots that support the skewers. This layout allows several suitable skewers to be arranged in parallel without removing every piece of meat before serving. Shaped recesses in the board help organise bread, herbs, vegetables or other foods selected to accompany the barbecue.
Two serving functions in one design
- A sharing board for accompaniments. The base brings the main dish and its chosen sides into one coordinated display, helping guests see the selection and reach what they want without constantly moving separate plates.
- A raised skewer stand. The two slotted rails support skewers above the board, preserving the familiar barbecue presentation and allowing pieces to be served directly from the skewer.
- An oak serving surface. The natural grain and warm appearance of the wood suit indoor dining, a country-house table or a prepared picnic setting, providing a distinctive backdrop for flame-cooked food.
- A base supported by legs. Raising the serving area separates the arrangement from the tabletop or other firm support and gives the main dish a clear visual focus.
Setting up an orderly barbecue spread
Place the server on a level, stable surface before adding food. Position each skewer so that it rests securely on both rails and sits correctly in the corresponding slots. The usable metal length, handle shape and weight balance all matter: a heavy handle should not pull the arrangement to one side, and neighbouring skewers should not obstruct one another. It is generally easier to arrange the accompaniments before placing hot meat on the stand.
This wooden item is intended for serving rather than cooking over heat. Do not place it on a barbecue grill, beside an open flame or directly over hot charcoal. When dining outdoors, choose firm and even ground, as soft soil or a sloping surface may reduce the stability of the legs. Remove all skewers before attempting to carry a loaded board from one serving area to another.
Caring for the oak board
After the meal, remove food residue, wipe the wood with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it promptly. Avoid prolonged soaking, leaving the board wet or cleaning it in a dishwasher. Abrasive brushes and extended exposure to strong heat are also unsuitable for a wooden serving piece. Store it only when dry. If the surface later needs conditioning, use an oil intended for food-contact wooden kitchenware and follow the instructions supplied with that product.
This serving format is particularly well suited to a family meal in the garden, an evening beside the barbecue, a country-house gathering or a picnic with a prepared dining area. It lets the skewers remain part of the presentation while snacks and accompaniments share the same organised setting, making the barbecue the natural focal point of the occasion.
