Description

The Lux steel grill grate is designed for cooking meat, fish, and vegetables directly over charcoal when an open grilling surface is more suitable than skewers. Its square 35×35 cm format provides room to arrange several foods across the cooking area and remove individual portions as they reach the preferred level of doneness. It is a practical addition to a brazier used in a garden cooking area, at a picnic, or as part of a permanent outdoor barbecue setup.

The grate is built from parallel steel bars with a confirmed thickness of 12 mm. Rather than being a lightweight wire mesh, it is a substantial structure weighing 6 kg. Two handles extend from opposite sides and provide defined gripping points when positioning the grate or removing it after it has cooled. Open spaces between the bars expose food to the heat below and make the surface suitable for portioned cuts of meat, fish, and vegetables without threading them onto skewers.

Dimensions and construction

  • Size — 35×35 cm. Compare both dimensions with the supporting area of your brazier before choosing this grate.
  • Material — steel. The surface is intended for grilling food above charcoal in a suitable firebox.
  • Bar thickness — 12 mm. The substantial bars form a rigid cooking platform and distinguish the product from thin wire grids.
  • Weight — 6 kg. Consider this figure when planning transport, storage, and a stable place for the accessory.
  • Shape — square. Equal side dimensions make it straightforward to compare the grate with the available mounting area.
  • Two handles. Located on opposite sides, they help the user control the grate while setting it onto its supports.

Checking the fit before use

This model is intended primarily for the Lux brazier and may also fit other braziers with equivalent supporting dimensions. A general description such as “standard brazier” is not enough to establish a secure fit. Measure the distance between the supporting edges and the usable space above the firebox. The grate should rest firmly on the load-bearing edges without falling inside or interfering with the walls, lid, or any other fitted components. Check separately that both handles remain accessible. Careful measurement is particularly important for custom-built fireboxes and models with additional side elements.

Cooking on the open grate

Place the grate level over prepared charcoal and allow the steel surface to heat before adding food. Arrange meat, fish, and vegetables so that each piece rests securely across several bars. For small, delicate, or narrow ingredients, assess the open spacing before cooking: this bar-style grate is not a substitute for a fine mesh. Its layout is better suited to portions large enough to sit securely on the parallel supports. Use suitable grilling tools to turn and remove food without disturbing neighboring pieces.

The grate and its handles become hot during cooking. Use appropriate heat-resistant equipment, keep hands away from heated metal, and allow the product to cool before moving or cleaning it. Stable support and clear access to the handles are essential every time the grate is placed on a brazier, even when it has previously been used with the same setup.

Cleaning and storage

Once the grate has cooled, remove food residue and wash the surface with warm water and a regular dishwashing agent, using a sponge or brush. Dry the steel thoroughly before storage and keep it in a dry place. A light layer of cooking oil may be applied before extended storage as part of routine steel-surface care. Correctly matched to the supporting area, the Lux grate offers a straightforward way to broaden an outdoor menu: steaks, portioned fish, and a range of vegetables can all be prepared on the same solid grilling surface.
