Oval Wooden Kitchen Board 20×32 cm
Description
For cutting and neatly arranged serving
This wooden kitchen board combines a practical surface for everyday cutting with a shape suited to presenting snacks and prepared food. Its oval outline has no projecting handle, allowing the board to be positioned lengthwise in either direction. The light, natural grain remains part of its appearance, so the same surface can be used for a simple tabletop presentation without an additional serving base.
Construction and dimensions
- Size: 20×32 cm.
- Shape: elongated oval with rounded edges.
- Material: wood with visible natural grain.
- Working side: a level central area.
- Edge detail: a groove around the perimeter of the working area.
- Design: no projecting handle or corners.
The perimeter groove separates the central area from the outer edge and helps keep a small quantity of crumbs or juice released during cutting close to the working surface. It is not a deep reservoir, so the board should be cleared before the recess becomes full. When using the grooved side, place the board on a stable, level support so that the entire underside maintains reliable contact with the worktop.
Assessing the working format
The dimensions suit small and medium preparation tasks in which ingredients are cut in sequence rather than spread in large batches across one surface. When comparing it with a rectangular board of the same overall dimensions, allow for the missing corners: the usable area near the ends of the oval is smaller. In return, the rounded outline works well for a compact arrangement of slices, small appetisers, or individual components of a finished dish.
With no separate handle, the outer contour remains free from projecting parts. The board can be held with both hands at the side edges, although a loaded surface should be carried horizontally. For cutting, position it on a dry, non-slip base. If the worktop is smooth, a clean, slightly damp cloth or a suitable non-slip mat can be placed underneath to reduce movement.
Use and care
The working side is suitable for cutting bread, cheese, vegetables, herbs, and other foods proportionate to the available area. During serving, the groove creates a visual boundary and helps keep pieces away from the very edge. To avoid unnecessary deep knife marks, use normal slicing motions rather than heavy impacts, and do not treat the surface as a chopping block for hard foods.
Clean the wooden board by hand soon after use. Do not leave it immersed in water or scrub it with metal scourers or abrasive powders. After washing, remove moisture from both sides and stand the board where air can circulate around the surface. Avoid drying the wood immediately beside a heater, as rapid and uneven heating may affect its condition.
Use separate boards for raw ingredients and ready-to-eat food, or clean the surface thoroughly between preparation stages. Before using it again for presentation, make sure the wood is clean and completely dry. This care routine helps keep the working face in suitable condition and prevents food residue from remaining inside the perimeter groove.
