Description

Fire cooking made for sharing

The Romashka 50 cm pan is designed for cooking over an open fire in the garden, at a country house, or during an outdoor gathering. Its broad, round cooking area provides room for meat, potatoes, vegetables, or seafood while leaving space to turn and mix the ingredients. It can also be used for pilaf, stews, and a range of side dishes. This generous format is particularly useful when the meal is meant to be prepared as one shared batch and served close to the fire rather than divided between several small pans.

The cooking body is made from 6–8 mm steel. The metal conducts heat across the wide surface, allowing ingredients to be arranged beyond the central zone. This model does not have a non-stick coating, so the surface should be greased with vegetable oil or another cooking fat before food is added. That feature should be considered when choosing a recipe, regulating the fire, and cleaning the pan afterwards.

A freestanding setup for an open fire

Three removable legs, each 24 cm high, raise the pan above the fire and leave room underneath for fuel. The legs can be unscrewed when the pan is packed for a trip or stored between outings, reducing the space required by the assembled setup. Fixed handles are built into the pan for positioning it before the fire is lit and for carrying it once the steel has cooled completely.

The pan may also be placed on a suitably sized barbecue brazier or camping turbo stove instead of its own legs. Whichever setup is chosen, the support must be stable, correctly sized, and capable of preventing the pan from sliding or tipping. Protective heat-resistant equipment is required if the hot pan must be handled, since the fixed steel handles become hot during cooking as well.

Confirmed specifications

  • Cooking surface diameter: 50 cm.
  • Material: steel.
  • Steel thickness: 6–8 mm.
  • Support: three removable legs, 24 cm high.
  • Handles: fitted, fixed construction.
  • Supported setups: freestanding above a fire, on a suitable brazier, or on a compatible turbo stove.

The actual dimensions may differ from the stated measurements by up to 5%. This tolerance matters when the pan is intended for use with an existing brazier or must fit inside a case, storage recess, or limited luggage space. Measuring the intended support and storage area with a little extra clearance is the most reliable way to check the fit.

Cooking practice and routine care

Wooden, silicone, or plastic utensils are appropriate for stirring and turning food without scratching the steel surface. After cooking, the pan should be allowed to cool gradually. Pouring cold water onto hot steel creates an abrupt temperature change and may deform the metal. Food residue can be softened with warm or hot water and then removed with a mild cleaning product. Hard brushes, metal scrapers, and knives should not be used on the cooking surface.

Once clean, the pan needs to be dried thoroughly and kept in a dry place. If it will remain unused for an extended period, applying a thin film of vegetable oil helps protect the steel from corrosion. With this straightforward routine, Romashka is ready for repeated outdoor meals—from seared meat and vegetables to potatoes, pilaf, seafood, and slow-cooked stews prepared in the relaxed atmosphere of an open fire.
