Wood-Burning Kazan Stove, 3 mm Steel
Description
A wood-burning stove for kazan cooking and space heating
Plov, shurpa, stewed meat, and vegetable dishes are easier to prepare when the kazan has a dedicated firebox beneath it and the fuel remains accessible from the front. This potbelly-style stove is designed for that arrangement: wood can be added through the upper door while the cooking vessel stays in position. With a correctly configured flue and adequate ventilation, the stove can also provide heat in a small room. At 31 kg, it is better suited to a country house, summer kitchen, or established outdoor cooking area than to lightweight camping.
The cylindrical body is made from 3 mm steel and finished with heat-resistant paint. Overall height on the legs is 82 cm, depth is 47 cm, and body diameter is 36.5 cm. A 10 cm outlet is provided for connection to a suitable flue. These measurements help with planning the installation area, clear space around the hot body, and the route used to carry smoke away from the cooking zone.
Built around a practical wood-burning layout
- The upper firebox door provides front fuel access, allowing small pieces of wood to be added without lifting the kazan from the working area.
- The lower ash compartment has its own door, keeping combustion residue accessible for cleaning once the stove has cooled completely.
- Door latches and air-control elements help close the two compartments and manage the airflow that supports combustion.
- Raised legs keep the hot body above its base, although the stove must still stand on a level, stable, non-combustible surface.
- Side handles provide defined grip points when repositioning the cold stove. The unit must never be moved while hot or while fuel is burning.
- The upper cooking area supports the kazan above the firebox, while the side outlet directs smoke into a connected flue system.
Separate access to the firebox and ash section is particularly useful for dishes that cook slowly. Fuel can be monitored and added in modest amounts from the front, while accumulated ash can be removed after use without dismantling the body.
Matching the stove to a kazan and installation area
No compatible kazan capacity is specified, so litre volume alone is not enough for selection. Compare the vessel’s lower profile and outside diameter with the stove’s 36.5 cm working diameter. The kazan should sit securely, without dropping too deeply into the opening or becoming unstable while food is stirred. If the cookware is already available, measure the section that will actually rest on the stove before choosing this model.
Allow for the 47 cm depth of the stove, unobstructed access in front of both doors, and enough room to use the handles after cooling. The flue should match the 10 cm outlet and be installed securely so that combustion gases are carried away from people, cookware, and the surrounding work area. In an enclosed location, proper ventilation and a correctly arranged chimney are essential.
Lighting, operation, and routine care
Place the stove away from combustible objects and never leave a burning fire unattended. Use dry firewood cut to a suitable size. Dry fuel produces more predictable combustion and generally creates less smoke and soot than damp wood. Control the fire with airflow and modest fuel loads rather than overfilling the firebox.
After cooking, let the fuel, embers, and steel body cool fully. Empty the ash compartment, clean residue from the firebox, and remove soot from the flue at appropriate intervals. Keeping the cooled stove in a dry location helps preserve the painted steel surface. The combination of front fuel access, a separate ash section, raised cooking height, and a dedicated smoke outlet makes this model a practical base for unhurried kazan cooking in a properly prepared location.
