Collapsible Stainless Steel Brazier “Pivdennyi” for 12 Skewers
Description
The “Pivdennyi” brazier holds up to 12 skewers at once, making it a practical choice for picnics, country-house weekends, and outdoor cooking areas in a private yard. Its elongated firebox lets several portions cook in parallel instead of making a larger group wait through numerous small batches. The unit can be fired with wood or charcoal, while the rectangular layout makes it easier to distribute the fuel along the full cooking length.
Collapsible construction and cooking area
The body is made of stainless steel with 3 mm thick walls. The firebox measures 74 cm in length and 31 cm in width, with a depth of 17 cm. These proportions provide room for a suitable fuel bed and food arranged on skewers without turning the brazier into a bulky permanent installation. Ventilation openings in the side walls allow air to reach the coals. Separate notches along the upper edge provide defined resting positions for the skewers.
The brazier consists of detachable sections that can be assembled without specialist tools. Its collapsible format makes it easier to place in a vehicle and reduces the space required between outings. Supporting legs raise the firebox above the ground, but the complete unit must still be positioned on a level, stable, non-combustible surface. Before lighting the fuel, check that every section is seated in its intended connection and that the brazier does not rock.
Choosing skewers and a cooking grate
The model provides 12 skewer positions, but skewers and other cooking accessories should not be assumed to be included. When selecting skewers, consider the 31 cm firebox width: the working section must span the body securely, while the handle should remain outside the hottest area. A barbecue grate should likewise be chosen according to the dimensions of its supporting edges. It needs to rest securely without slipping into the firebox when food is lifted or turned.
- For a full batch: spread the skewers along the available length and leave gaps between portions so that hot air can circulate.
- For mixed ingredients: arrange meat, poultry, and vegetables in separate sections because their cooking times may differ.
- For heat management: distribute charcoal in denser and thinner layers to create hotter and gentler zones within the same firebox.
- For stable use: avoid loading one end disproportionately and recheck the leg positions whenever the disassembled unit has been transported.
Outdoor use and routine care
Operate the brazier outdoors only and keep it away from dry grass, low branches, and other readily combustible objects. Never move the structure while the coals are burning, and do not leave an active fire unattended. After cooking, allow every metal section to cool completely before removing ash and unused fuel. Clean the surfaces with non-aggressive tools that will not leave deep scratches.
Dry all sections thoroughly before placing them in storage. Stainless steel offers better resistance to moisture than untreated ordinary steel, but prolonged dampness, ash deposits, and food residue should still be avoided. The cleaned, disassembled brazier is best kept in a dry place. Choose the “Pivdennyi” when the essential criteria are a 74 cm cooking length, capacity for 12 skewers, 3 mm walls, and a construction that comes apart for vehicle transport or seasonal storage.
